…but let’s say I have the mistaken impression it’ll help me cope with my current mental health issues. I know a lot of my words may come off cruel, but let’s say this guy really did leave a mark.

Trigger warning for among other things, anti-Semitism.

Open letter to the guy I blocked on Discord. )

I saw The Rise of Skywalker in theaters, and even though there were some good ideas in there, there were also some ideas that just seemed to be on. Crack.

Spoilers under cut. And I swear this isn’t some crackfic I read; this is all 100% from the movie. )

So it’s a weird case. Honestly, the Sequel Trilogy started out with really strong promise in Episode Seven. We had great characters, strong emotional moments...true, maybe the plot wasn’t the most original in the world, but it didn’t matter. We had great mysteries too — what happened to Kylo? What happened to Rey? Who is Snoke? Et cetera. And then the middle and end just fell apart. There were great ideas in TROS, but there were also a lot of bad ones that no one sat JJ down for and said, “Boss, lay off the crack.”

I’m actually proposing something that may get me ridiculed, but I don’t care: I’m rewriting the Sequel Trilogy. Even if nobody wants to read it, even if people think I’m a fool for trying. The Sequel Trilogy could have been truly the trilogy — after the disaster that was the old post-ROTJ EU, and the TOR MMO deciding to shit on Revan and the Exile — that saved Star Wars. Even if nobody cares what I have to write or say (which may be the case on AO3; writing a rare pairing does that to you), at least I’ll be trying. I hope.

“Warning )
ladyofleithian: (rey wtf)
So, I should preface this with the fact that if I'm wrong somehow, if we're all wrong, then I'll eat my words. All of them. But the latest news about the D23 Rise of Skywalker trailer decided that not only was Rey's character crapped on, but she had not even begun to be crapped on!

Spoilers I mostly heard from word of mouth. Also, if you like Reylo/Dark Rey, turn back now. This is your last warning. )

*Sighs*

So I probably overreacted. Maybe I'll change my mind -- and maybe it is a case of Complaining About Trailers That Haven't Been Released To The Public Yet -- but...goddamn. Even if she is redeemed, the damage to her character still has been done.

Maybe it'll turn out to be a fake out. For now...R.I.P., Rey. You meant a lot to me. More than you know.

...but if you're wondering why exactly I wrote what I did for the "Unreliable Narrator" prompt, this is why: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0qChcV0w7M

Title: The Covert Anti-Progressiveness of The Last Jedi

Summary: The Last Jedi isn’t nearly as progressive as people would think.

Prompt: Wild Card — Minorities / Characters of Colour / Women in Canon

Disclaimer: I own nothing.

Warnings: Not exactly flattering towards The Last Jedi. Also, plenty of salt.

Title: The General's Favorite

Summary: He's not her son, not really. He's not a replacement either. And yet Leia can't help but see certain things in him that suggest otherwise.

Prompt: Mistaken Identity

Disclaimer: I own nothing.

Author's Notes: Written in response to the recent revelation of awful that Leia considers Poe like a surrogate son -- also known as Reason 24601 that I have a bad feeling about The Last Jedi, seriously, RianJohnsonisahackRianJohnsonisahackRianJohnsonisahack... *cough* Sorry. Anyway, I figured I'd write my response to that.

Fic under cut. )
ladyofleithian: (FML.)
I want to get excited about Star Wars: Episode Eight. I really do. But the more news I hear about it (and granted, they're probably not set in stone, and some of them could be rumors, like the old speculations of who would be cast in Episode Seven), the more cynical I'm starting to get.

Warning for some possible spoilery stuff -- at least in terms of development business. )

While the guy in question makes some good points, there are a few things that bothered me. Or at least, things I want to talk about.

Cut for rambling/ranting/occasional playing of devil's advocate. )

And those are my thoughts. I apologize if I inadvertently offended anyone, anywhere, but I had to rant. I don't really hold many of these opinions (except the Order. They bug me), but really? Everyone's opinion is valid in some way or another. I wish more people realized it.

Thoughts? Comments? Objections? I'd love to hear them. :)
ladyofleithian: (mood: enraged)

Got 10,087 words today. Also on the duel with Dooku. Doing pretty well, I think, considering the circumstances. Pretty tired right now, but relatively satisfied.

Also, a bit of a ramble, based on one post that I read (thanks to a recommendation by fangirlblog). I don't know how qualified I am to really talk about this (and I doubt I can be as eloquent as some of the commenters were), but it was something that really struck me, and I kind of want to talk about it:

Warning for potentially triggering content )

And those are my two cents on the matter. I hope I handled the subject well and everything, and made sense. What are your thoughts?

Cut for potentially triggering content involving cyberbullying and me ranting -- this *really* pissed me off. )

And those are my two Republic credits on the matter. Sorry I ranted/overreacted -- it just really made me angry when I heard about it. Fortunately, there is a petition to fight back against Local10, in a sense: http://www.change.org/petitions/wplg-local-10-miami-fl-star-wars-fans-deserve-a-formal-public-apology. Go there and sign if you can. For human decency's sake. May the Force be with you.

Seriously, say what you will about Fifty Shades of Gray, but this is all kinds of horrible.

Possible trigger/rage warning for homophobia. )

*Sighs*

Seriously, I'm not even a fan of Fifty Shades of Gray and I don't like this. Some would argue that Bomer dodged a bullet in regards to being in the film adaptation, but in all honesty, it's not about that. If anything, it's about the fact that Hollywood still discriminates against others due to their sexual orientation, their skin color, what-have-you. Even after all this time, Hollywood doesn't seem to get it, really. Honestly, it just...well, it pisses me off majorly, to say the least. Sexual orientation, skin color, what-have-you should not be a barrier to acting, nor to anything else. Unfortunately, we're going to have to have a long way to go before anyone realizes that. In the words of Futurama:

Yeah, that pretty much covers it. :/
