In your own space, share a favorite memory about fandom: the first time you got into fandom, the last time a fanwork touched your heart, crazy times with fellow fans (whether on-line or off-line), a lovely comment you’ve received or have left for someone. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.Christ, so many memories. Chatting about KOTOR with darth_eldritch, for example. Everything I’ve experienced with MidgardianNerd. such as when she wrote a fanfic based on a fanfic I wrote her for my birthday:
http://archiveofourown.org/works/11698821. (You might know MidgardianNerd from when I did my post on Darkpilot; she wrote The First Day of the Rest Of Our Life, which I recommended for anyone who wanted to dip their toes in) And also, when she wrote her stories based on my own fantasy AU for TFA:
http://archiveofourown.org/series/856572. Seriously, go read her stuff; she is an excellent writer) *
And this is pretty recent, but it touched me enough to include it — someone actually recommended my stories to someone looking for good Darkpilot fics. It’s one of those things that just meant the world to me. Honestly, any memory where I’ve moved someone with my stories somehow really just rocks because it means I’ve done something right. I do love my audience dearly.
* And thing is, when she first commented on one of my deleted scenes for The Broken Edge, I was fangirling on the inside. Just sort of like, “Oh my God, she commented on my work, this is so cool!” Because she was very much a regular in the fandom that I was writing in, for Ben-Kylo/Poe. We kind of kept up a bit of a correspondence through my fics before I reached out to her on Tumblr and we got to know each other better.
