The next few months are going to be so awesomely fandomy for me. Awake has started. Game of Thrones dvd/blue ray is out on the 6th. John Carter comes out the 9th. Hunger Games the 16th. Then Game of Thrones comes back. Then Avengers on May 5. Men in Black 3 on May 25. Snow White and the Huntsman on June 1. Dark Knight Returns is July 25.

I have no idea how school work is going to get done. None at all.

Also, I'm burring myself in fandom because real life is too depressing right now. Something is seriously wrong with our world right now. Parts of fandom are bad, but there are also safe parts that I can lose myself in and imagine places that are so much better than here.

Pissed off and dismayed by the students at my university who think it's a good idea to start a strike when the term is 2/3 over. And those who decided that if 50%+1 of those who voted are in favor of the strike, everyone has to stay home and then waste the summer vacation in class.

Thank god for fandom. The strike is going to give me a lot of time to work on fic. I won't go mad from boredom. :) Hey, wait, why am I not posting this in my LJ?

I've had a youtube account for almost 6 year now: maluhan. But the last year I have been so busy that I couldn't get to do one. They are all about the Star Wars EU after Episode 6, so Luke, Mara, Leia, Han, Jaina, Jacen, Tahiri and so on :-)

Now I started one to the song "paradise" by Coldplay and I'm very positive I might finish it this time because I'm so inspired ;-)

-- I was finding myself more interested in various Luke-and-Leia-are-raised-together plotbunnies (especially the one where they both grow up on Tatooine and end up joining Vader at Cloud City) AND canon-compliant stuff and even ATLA crossovers than the fic I choose. But then I went on a fanvid binge and it's cool.

ETA: I also just watched the "Guilty Pleasures" song from the Moulin Rouge review. I was going to say the prequels for me, but it's more complicated than that. Nope, Splinter of the Mind's Eye. So bad, so incestuous, so fuuuuuun.

As for my guilty pleasures -- well, I already mentioned TWILIGHT a few times earlier, but I'll also admit THE INHERITANCE CYCLE is a guilty pleasure for me. Is it derivative? Sort of. Does it have some "WTF" elements? Yes. But it's no less entertaining to read. :) There goes my credibility... XD

Gah, I remember physics. Happily, my uni considered astronomy to count as a physics lab, so I don't need any more.

Oh, I just stumbled across a link when I was amusing myself by watching the fandom explode over Simon Pegg, and then clicked around the OT forum and somehow ended up with ten tabs open full of people going "lol people actually thought Leia was pretty??" and whining about RLM and insisting that Luke triumphs because he's just ~so pure~ and then arguments over Lucas' original intentions (no, he always meant Luke and Leia to be twins and for their mother to die in childbirth, really!) and the periodic "you're just nostalgic!" and blaming Vader for Alderaan and Luke throwing away his lightsaber is wimpy and basically everything that has ever bugged me in SW fandom, ever, gathered into one place.

(A lot are PT because there's so much more room to play around there, but for the same reason they're the ones I'm least likely to write. I may poke at Luke-and-Leia-on-Tatooine though.)

Splinter is HILARIOUS. Luke and Leia actually get into a mud fight at one point. And it also has interesting characterization - Leia is a ruthless Determinator, hardened by her torture and the destruction of Alderaan, while Luke is a brash, naive, natural liar. They're still basically good people, too.

Heh, I haven't read the Inheritance Cycle, but I understand about Twilight - I don't like it myself, but I do love romance novels generally and ... yeah, the wtfery abounds.

I love fandom, I truly do, but sometimes people are absolutely nuts.

The vidder makes it clear that she thinks people can't simply dislike a character who happens to be female. People need to have a reason. And God forbid that reason is "she's annoying".

Oh, and God forbid if you, say, dislike Cersei Lannister but likes Tyrion Lannister. Since they're both baddies. Oh, doesn't matter that their personalities are completely different! You can't dislike the sister and like the brother.

Grr! I can understand where she's coming from... kind of. But this is getting ridiculous.
