So...this actually looks good. I was actually exceedingly nervous here because the leaks I heard about TLJ were really pissing me off one way or the other (seriously, Kylo being a Sore Loser over Rey defeating him in their duel? That is so OOC it's off the charts and I'm not even a Reylo shipper. * Like, at all. Poe being like Leia's adoptive son? Leia's a terrible mother, and that's the gospel truth), but this actually looks good. Even if the film turns out to suck on toast (to quote Pearl Forrester), the trailer still looks amazing.

Then again, maybe it won't suck. I mean, I was scared TFA would turn out bad and it turned out great. And if TLJ does indeed suck on toast...well, there's always fanfiction.











*I personally subscribe to them being cousins. It just fits.

I'm not a Reylo shipper...but that trailer kind of made me one.

(Even though I really want her to be a Skywalker!)

I definitely want her to be a Skywalker too. It would just make sense, especially with Kylo's odd behavior around her. It kind of gave me that weird-kinship vibe at minimum. I think Kylo and Rey definitely have a weird kinship -- Kylo saying "Don't be afraid, I feel it too" (then again, Kylo just acts weird with his prisoners. Complimenting Poe for enduring torture, and then this...so I think Kylo just acts weird with all his prisoners), his offer to train her in TFA, him gushing to Snoke about how good she is...I'm not a Reylo shipper, but I think Kylo does act weird when it comes to Rey. (Yeah, I know weird is a low bar with Kylo Ren) I think the idea that they're cousins explains a hell of a lot, and I definitely headcanon that before he fell, Ben was a very doting cousin to tiny Rey.

Trailers tend to mislead, I just hope they don't have Ben killing Leia or they don't turn Leia into a bad mother, and most importantly, PLEASE don't ruin Luke as well!

I'm completely rooting for Rey Skywalker though.

Rey Skywalker FTW! I mean, seriously. And yeah, hopefully they don't do any of what you described. I admit I am so, so nervous about Luke considering that my last experience with Luke was the old EU, which...oy. Vey. Consider yourself fortunate if you never encountered that version of Luke.

But Rian Johnson is a huge Luke fan, so maybe he'll do Luke justice.

And yeah, here's hoping they don't ruin Leia.

I haven't read the EU but a friend of mine who did filled me with details and Luke there is just no!Canon Luke. I'm glad to know that Rian loves Luke so much, it gives me hope he may not ruin his character. I don't want Luke to be Obi-Wan 2.0, thank you very much.

And I also hope we get to see Leia/Ben moments, specially since we'll get to see none in episode IX, please tell me mother and son still love each other please.

So very agreed re: EU Luke. A friend of mine actually called that version of Luke Faux Skywalker. But yeah, Rian Johnson is a Luke fan. And yeah, Obi-Wan 2.0 wouldn't be in Luke's character.

And yeah, hopefully. I'm certain Ben/Kylo still loves his mother, though. And I suppose Leia still loves him, and that the Leia-sees-Poe-as-a-surrogate-son thing is just bad writing considering she did say there was still light in her biological son. (I love Poe, he's one of my favorites, but him being like Leia's surrogate son is unfair to him as well as Kylo. *) And then again, maybe it's not what I think it is. Who knows?





* I mean, Kylo was stalked by Snoke on her watch, and Poe being her second-in-command is not exactly in an equal relationship, as a commenter on AO3 pointed out.
