1. Anakin Skywalker -- Bohemian Rhapsody (cover by Emilie Autumn):

So you think you can love me
And leave me to die
So you think
You can stop me and spit in my eye
Oh baby - can't do this to me baby
Just gotta get out -
Just gotta get right outta here

Mostly thinking of his point of view during the Mustafar duel. I think a lot of this song could apply to Anakin, but these lyrics, for me, especially jump out. Also, I recommend listening to Emilie Autumn's cover of Bohemian Rhapsody. It's pretty damn good.

2. Padme Amidala -- A Current Obsession by Lacuna Coil:

The naked truth is in disguise

It's your secret complication

...

I know that you'll never see the light again
The light again

...

Erase the burning fear into your eyes again
Your eyes again

...

The silent scream is stronger now
You cannot keep it too long
The cloud evolving into rain
Your desert seems so far now

Come into my arms
Come into my arms."

I think the whole song fits Padme during Revenge of the Sith, but these lines especially. Hiding her relationship with Anakin, for one thing, watching the Republic crumble around her, and her eventual, tragic fate. I think it's why I'm quite fond of Padme during Revenge of the Sith -- I think it's just the matter of what she's like under pressure, especially in the novelization.

3. Frodo Baggins -- Like You by Evanescence:

Stay low -- soft, dark and dreamless
Far beneath my nightmares and loneliness
I hate me
For grieving without you
I don't want to feel anymore for you

Grieving for you
I'm not grieving for you
Nothing real love can't undo
And though I may have lost my way
All paths lead straight to you.

I think that it really describes how he's feeling especially after Gandalf's death -- his grief and guilt over Gandalf's death, his conflict about leaving the Fellowship, what he had to go through with the Ring, making his decision to leave the Fellowship, etc. (Mostly thinking movieverse -- I really need to get back to reading the books. It's been a while) While I can't say all of the song describes him after Gandalf's death, I think these bits definitely do.

4. Samwise Gamgee -- Bye Bye Beautiful (DJ Orkidea Remix) by Nightwish:

This is kind of a remix, really. (Obviously) But I think these lyrics definitely apply:

They used to love, having so much to lose.

Just because of his loyalty and his devotion to Frodo, which I loved reading about when I was first in middle school because it was so touching. I think if anyone deserves the "Most Badass and Wonderful Best Friend In Sci-Fi/Fantasy" award, it's definitely Sam. Because seriously, what he's willing to go through for Frodo if only to protect him...it's wonderful. And I think the feel of the song in general (despite its original context) definitely fits with what Sam and Frodo had to go through.

5. Tauriel -- Save You by Emilie Autumn:

To be honest, I can't say this is an easy song to ascribe to Tauriel. (In fact, I think you've probably noticed by now that my playlist is really fucking weird.) That said, I think this could fit:

I think you've had enough experience
To differentiate between a heart of gold
And what you cradle in your gentle arms
Can you not recognize a soul already sold?
...
How do I save you from the mess you're in
When I can't make you leave this torturous embrace?

I think it definitely fits with Tauriel kind of making her decision to go out and play her part in saving Middle Earth. The last two lines could be her challenging Legolas to do his part in saving Middle Earth: "When did we allow evil to be stronger than us?" Then there's this:

Behind the curtain waits a darker world

Because she's leaving Mirkwood, which is already pretty dangerous, to go out into a darker, far more dangerous world. Sort of crossing the threshold, so to speak. And:

I can't deny the past, it's written on my face

I just remember her conversation with Kili, about starlight and what it means to the Mirkwood elves. Also known as one of my favorite scenes in Desolation of Smaug; I actually liked them building up Kili and Tauriel's relationship. And it feels authentic and real as well. And it's kind of given an echo with Kili sort of sleep-talking and wondering if Tauriel could ever love someone like him. "She walks in starlight, in a different world" -- also known as one of the best love declarations in fiction just because...well, it's so heartwarming. (Yeah, my Kili/Tauriel shipper is showing. The movie made it too easy)

6. Eowyn -- I Think I'm Paranoid by Garbage:

If I should fail, if I should fold
I nailed my faith to the sticking pole

...
Steal me, deal me, any way you heal me
Maim me, tame me, you can never change me
Love me, like me, come ahead and fight me.

Also known as one of those "WTF" sort of choices. But I think these lyrics -- which are really difficult to ascribe and probably a major case of self-inflicted Misaimed Fandom just because the original song is pretty goddamn dysfunctional, shall we say -- fit Eowyn's sort of determination and strength, book and movie-verse. And what she had to go through as well before ultimately Earning Her Happy Ending.

7. Rose Tyler -- Born This Way by Lady Gaga:

My mama told me when I was young
We are all born superstars
She rolled my hair and put my lipstick on
In the glass of her boudoir

"There's nothing wrong with loving who you are"
She said, "'Cause he made you perfect, babe"
"So hold your head up girl and you'll go far,
Listen to me when I say"

I'm beautiful in my way
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way
Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way

No complaints! I like this.

8. The Tenth Doctor -- La Donna E Mobile by Rigoletto:

(Again, WTF, iPod?)

Okay, translated -- which I got off About.com -- I think the best lyrics I can apply to this is...this:

Yet one never feels
Fully happy
Who on that bosom — does not drink love!

I guess it does sum up...Ten's love of life in general? I really don't know; the original song, from what I can gather from the translated lyrics, was about a fickle, indecisive woman, which I guess can sort of apply genderswapped to Ten's more flirty nature? I guess these could apply (just swap out the feminine pronouns with more masculine pronouns):

Woman is flighty
Like a feather in the wind,
She changes her voice — and her mind.

That's the best I can gather. *Headdesk* I think my iPod is trolling me. Ah well -- it does make for some comedy gold.

9. The War Doctor -- Stand My Ground (acoustic) by Within Temptation:

(Finally, a song choice that makes fucking sense!)

Late at night
Things I thought I put behind me
Haunt my mind
I just know there's no escape now
Once it's set its eyes on you
But I won't run
I've got to stare it in the eye.

I think pretty much all of this song could apply to the War Doctor during the Time War, but this especially. I think I'd apply this lyric to when he's contemplating using The Moment to end the Time War once and for all. Before the Moment herself decides to intervene.

10. Arwen -- The Night Santa Went Crazy by Weird Al Yankovic:

(What?! Just what?!)

I just...I have no idea. Seriously, I don't. The best I can apply it to is this, when she decides to unleash watery death on the Nazgul in the film (just swap out the masculine pronouns):

And he smiled as he said with a twinkle in his eye,
"Merry Christmas to all - now you're all gonna die!"

Otherwise...what?! (And I better stop before I tempt fate again)

11. Boromir -- Skin by Alexz Johnson:

I drift away to a place
Another kind of life
Take away the pain
I create my paradise

...

Oh, he's under my skin
Just give me something to get rid of him
I've got a reason now to bury this alive
Another little white lie

...

Falling apart and all that I question
Is this a dream or is this my lesson

(*Sighs in relief* Thank Eru himself)

I was thinking mostly of Boromir's struggle -- movieverse Boromir, because while bookverse Boromir was good, I think the films kind of improved on Boromir just by showing his inner struggles and what he was going through and giving him some really sweet moments, e.g. comforting Frodo in Lorien after Gandalf's death -- the matter that he wanted to bring back the Ring to save Gondor, as well as his initial antagonism towards Aragorn before softening towards him, as well as his My God What Have I Done moment on Amon Hen. It's not perfect, but it definitely fits better than the last choice. (I'm sorry, Arwen. I'm so sorry)

12. Martha Jones -- Fade by Staind:

I just needed someone to talk to
You were just too busy with yourself
You were never there for me
To express how I felt
I just stuffed it down

I think it definitely describes Martha's feelings towards the Doctor. She loved him, but he was too busy grieving over Rose (and for good reason, don't get me wrong. Honestly, in this situation, I feel sorry for the both of them. Although in hindsight...yeah, Ten, WTF?) to really notice how she felt (even being really insensitive to her at times). I think the thing that's really awesome about Martha's situation is that eventually, she left. I think it really sends a good message -- if someone's treating you like crap, intentionally or no, don't put up with it!

13. Donna Noble -- White Rabbit by Emiliana Torrini:

And if you go chasin' rabbits
And you know you're goin' to fall
Tell him a hookah-smokin' caterpillar
Has given you the call
Call Alice when she was just small

...

When logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talkin' backwards
And the Red Queen's off with her head
Remember what the Dormouse said
"Feed your head, feed your head"

If not the lyrics, then I think the feel of the song really does fit Donna -- the first quoted lyric, I think, really does fit Donna's desire to travel with the Doctor in "Partners in Crime", and the second quoted lyric definitely fits the matter of Donna becoming the Doctor-Donna in "Journey's End" and ultimately helping to save the world from the Daleks. (Before she was memory-wiped, that is. Which really sucked, to put it mildly)

14. Amy Pond -- Bodies by Drowning Pool:

Push me again
This is the end

Seriously, this was a hard one. Seriously. I think the best it could really sum up is the matter of Amy during "The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang", "The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon" and "The Wedding of River Song" when everything was going to shit, but otherwise, I really don't know. Although this could definitely apply:

You're all by yourself, but you're not alone.

Definitely applies to her captivity by Madame Kovarian and the Silence and what she endured there. Seriously. *Shivers*

15. Clara Oswald -- Shout by Tears For Fears

In violent times
You shouldn't have to sell your soul
In black and white
They really really ought to know
Those one track minds
Who took you for a working boy
Kiss them goodbye
You shouldn't have to jump for joy
...
They gave you life
And in return you gave them hell
As cold as ice
I hope we live to tell the tale."

I think this definitely fits Clara in her more BAMF moments, especially "The Rings of Akhaten". I dunno; there's something about that quoted lyric that really makes me think of Clara during that scene. And "I hope we live to tell the tale" definitely sums up the matter of her adventures with the Doctor. It definitely reminds me of why Clara's such a kickass character, I know that.

And that's the meme. Hope you enjoyed it despite my iPod being a troll and everything. (Seriously, iPod, what the bleeding hell?)
