Unpopular Opinions meme

Name me a fandom and I’ll tell you:

Character I love but everyone else hates
Character I hate that everyone else loves
Ship I love that no one else does
Ship I hate that most people love

Character I love but everyone else hates: Anakin Skywalker, Padme Amidala.

Character I hate that everyone else loves: Eh, I guess I don't really hate him, but I have a lot of issues with Luke Skywalker. Same with Yoda. (Though I am working past it as best I can)

Ship I love that no one else does: Well, Anakin/Padme is pretty popular here, but not terribly popular elsewhere.

Ship I hate that most people love: I'm not a terribly big fan of Obidala. Coming around to it somewhat.

Episode/plot/moment I love though everyone else hates: Pretty much all of the Anakin/Padme moments in ATTACK OF THE CLONES. I know that it's not really too popular (hell, even my mom pretty much didn't buy those moments, but then again, she's more of a Whovian than a STAR WARS person), but I dunno...I found them really cute.

Episode/plot/moment I hate that everyone else loves: I admit that Obi-Wan going undercover in DECEPTION wasn't my favorite moment. Or Satine dying in THE LAWLESS.

The thing that bothers me the most but doesn’t seem to bother anyone else: I admit that Luke's "Then my father is truly dead" kind of bugs me a little. I actually know someone who commended Luke for his sort of maturity in saying it...yeah, no. I kind of feel a bit better thinking that Luke was probably just saying it in the heat of the moment instead of a final judgment on Vader's character. Because...well, I think Vader has perfectly valid reasons for not wanting to come with Luke, at least at first. I mean, all things considered, I'm wondering if Luke should have sat down with Vader and listened to him, because I don't think many people did.

And maybe that's one of many reasons I can't hate Anakin/Vader. Because, in the end, he really is kind of lonely, and there's something about that that really hurts.

Commonly accepted fanon I don’t understand: The matter of the Jedi somehow being shining beacons of purity that can do no wrong. I mean...they're not. Not really, that is. There's just a lot of flaws in their Code, how they treat others -- for example, all but harassing Anakin for missing his mother (yeah, because God forbid that a little boy miss his mother. /sarcasm), and so on and so forth. I might have written a little more about this here: http://ladyofleithian.dreamwidth.org/768223.html. I mean, they have good intentions at heart, but it doesn't mean they're people to be idolized.

Canon or fanon I choose to disregard: Pretty much a lot of stuff that fangirlblog says about Anakin and Obi-Wan. I dunno; I just find some of what she says about Obi-Wan (mostly CLONE WARS!Obi-Wan; I know stuff like using Satine's death to prop up how noble Obi-Wan is was really uncomfortable. *) kind of inaccurate, as well as what she says about Anakin (calling him selfish and whatnot). That and the matter of Luke being better than Anakin and/or a saint, because really, he's not. I mean, he's a hero, yes, but he isn't completely free of flaws. And just because Anakin did what he did -- he's not a bad person. Not in the slightest. He's just a fundamentally good person who did terrible things and had terrible things done to him. He's complex. He's not a saint either, but he's not completely irredeemable.

Three pieces of headcanon (that make sense to me no matter what anyone says):

-Yoda's loss of faith in Anakin being partially due to the matter of what happened to Dooku.

-I like the idea of Palpatine having some degree of a hand in Anakin's creation. Or Plagueis. I think all things considered, it makes a lot of sense.

-In the end, I think that Anakin/Vader was the bravest Jedi (and Sith) of all.

* And trust me, I wish I was kidding.
