...and it was really good! Loved it. :)

Things I Loved:

-The opening with the Doctor waking up after the transmat beam. Not to mention this exchange:

ANNOUNCER: You are live on Channel 44000. Please do not swear.

NINE: You have *got* to be kidding.

-The entire premise of the episode -- reality TV gone deadly -- was really well-executed. It's pretty easy for something like that to go wrong, but "Bad Wolf" pulled it off really well, because (and I think this is Davies' biggest strength as a writer, amongst others) it isn't shoved in your face. It's simply presented -- people begging for another chance before getting disintegrated (granted, as Jack finds out, they don't actually die, but considering their ultimate fate...perhaps disintegration is kinder. Like with THE HUNGER GAMES, it doesn't just show you how the reality shows here are bad; it's shown in all its glory. That and there's an additional message in there: humanity can be a hell of a lot more. Granted, part of it is also the matter of the Daleks orchestrating everything, but it's a powerful message nonetheless. True heroism isn't a void of flaws, as this episode shows. Heroism is knowing you have these flaws and seeking to better yourself -- not by purging yourself of them, but simply doing what's right. In addition...a while back, I got into an argument with someone who believed that one had to be completely evil in order to make redemption all the more powerful, but this episode, IMHO, does a wonderful job at proving that idea wrong. Because the people working Satellite Five aren't evil -- they're just doing what they can (and even express their horror at the idea of what's in store for Rose at the beginning). And the Controller herself -- BTW, I swear to God she looks like M'Lee from FARSCAPE. I swear... -- isn't evil either. If nothing else, she's a very tragic figure. Blind from birth, plugged into that thing at age five, being controlled by the Daleks to do their bidding...she's not a monster. If nothing else, she's a very sad, tragic creature. And yet at the end, she defies the Daleks to help the Doctor, and says this line prior to being exterminated: "Oh my masters...you may kill me, for I have brought about your destruction." It very calls back to a similar character in the old series: "Who knows? I might have helped to exterminate you."

Let's say that DOCTOR WHO has been teaching me a lot about writing lately, so...yeah.

-"Ladies, your viewing figures just went up." *Giggles* Also, later, Jack pulling a gun literally out of nowhere, and when the What Not To Wear droids ask where he got it, Jack just says, "You don't want to know." I dunno; I just found it funny. XD

-Roderick turning on Rose. Frightening, but pretty effective in showing what happens when the survival instinct and other, lower emotions take over our...well, higher emotions, if I don't sound as if I'm speaking gibberish, really.

-Nine's interaction with Lynda. Seriously, Lynda was so cute -- I would have loved seeing her on the TARDIS. Her and Rose, getting along and such -- it would be awesome. Seriously.

+ Also shipping Jack/Lynda at the moment. Seriously.

-Nine's reaction when it appears Rose has been killed by the Anne-droid (BTW, I see what you did there, Davies. :). And Jack's. Though I knew Rose was okay, it was still very heartbreaking to watch. And I didn't blame Nine for being furious (even though it wasn't really the Floor 500 guys' fault; I think they were mostly making sure the games were working properly).

-The consequences of "The Long Game" coming back to haunt this episode, and Nine realizing that the Daleks were the one who put the Editor and his boss there, basically. Playing...well, the long game. :P

-Nine's "Zomgshe'snotdead!" reaction -- he's just so overjoyed that he just downright glomps Jack right then and there. Also a pretty heartbreaking mirror in "Utopia" as well -- in this case, it's Nine learning that Rose is all right. In the case of "Utopia", it's a case of Jack learning Rose is alive -- but she's seemingly gone forever. I can imagine that would hit him hard considering...well, he and Rose were best buddies. I can imagine that news would hit him hard. But back on topic.

-The buildup of discovering the hidden signal, and Nine's Oh Crap reaction.

-Nine's Badass Boast to the Daleks. As well as his "I'm coming to get you" line to Rose. Fucking. Badass.

-The cliffhanger, when a fucking *swarm* of Daleks appear on that ship, hovering in mid-air, swarming all over the ship, chanting all in unison: "Exterminate!"

Overall, amazing. Can't wait for "Parting of the Ways" tomorrow...even though it also marks saying goodbye to Nine. I know it'll happen, but...well, it doesn't mean it won't hurt. :( Definitely recommend this episode, though. Seriously. :)

Whut? How's that supposed to work? How can anyone be "completely evil," in the first place? That's as impossible as being completely good - if you have any kind of feelings, every so often one of them will be a decent feeling just by accident, and if you don't have feelings, you'll do the decent thing on occasion just out of practicality.

-"Ladies, your viewing figures just went up." *Giggles*

Hee, I loved that line too, and the cocky grin that went with it. Jack knows what he's got and he doesn't mind flaunting it. 8)

That's a definite benefit of Jack. There is no one you can't ship him with and have it be canon. ;)

I definitely agree. I think there is such a thing as evil in the world, but not complete evil. Everyone has a bit of good and bad inside them, and it's really what we choose to act on that defines us, IMHO.

As for what said person was getting at...well, I think he was *attempting* to say that the more evil the character, the more powerful the arc, but... *Sighs* Let's say he worded it very poorly. That and there's always a few shades of gray, really; we can't really overlook that.

(Er, I hope I'm making sense here)

On a lighter note, I know, right? :D It's one of my favorite scenes with Jack, and I have a ton of 'em. Jack is just so cool. :3

And so very true. Seriously. :3
