First off, permission to say I love your Donna icon? Donna FTW.

Anyway...I didn't initially consider the Obi-Wan/Padme pairing, but angel_in_tears' amazing fics definitely swayed me to the possibility. I'll always love Anakin/Padme, but Obi-Wan/Padme may yet take a place alongside some of my favorites in time. :)

Also, from the DOCTOR WHO fandom, Jack/Donna. And Doctor/TARDIS (thank you, Neil Gaiman!).

Mine too. :) Well, one of my favorites, really. :)

STAR TREK: Lovely people, really like how there seems to be no rules, so to speak, in terms of liking certain movies (even some of the more loathed ones, like NEMESIS, have a following), could do without people saying JJ Abrams is the devil (I can understand critiquing certain elements in the film that didn't make sense, but not going all Chicken Little in terms of rebooting the franchise. Besides, if you really dislike the reboot...just don't go and see the sequel. Easy) and the Kirk vs. Picard wars. Otherwise, I'd say it's quite sane for the most part.

DOCTOR WHO: Lovely people, but I wish that some of them wouldn't worship Steven Moffat so much. I mean, he's damn talented, but he's not perfect. He has his issues, e.g. as lovely as Eleven is, sometimes he can come off as really cold and ruthless, and doesn't seem to be called out on that behavior much. It seems on occasion Moffat subscribes to the idea, at least in writing Eleven, that "it's okay when a good guy does it", e.g. some of his ruthless treatment of some of the insane Daleks (it's a long story) in "Asylum of the Daleks". And someone else (who I will not name) saying that she liked Eleven because he wasn't emotional. Which...maybe he's better at letting go, but the way she said it...honestly, if Angst What Angst is the epitome of heroism, I'm fighting it at every turn just as a "screw you" to that trope. It's just the whole "men don't cry" bullshit dressed up in "feminist approved" clothing.

That and I really dislike the companion wars (can't we respect one another's choices and call it a night?), the Classic Who vs. New Who wars (especially with one guy who accused New Who fans of being scammed; yeah, fuck you, buddy), the slutshaming for some of the female characters (and even a reverse form for the Tenth Doctor himself), the Tenth Doctor accused of being "whiny" (why do some people assume that any character who shows emotions is "whiny"?), the new Master being "wimpy" because of the sympathy for the devil aspect, and so on and so forth. Mostly I try to stick in the safe spots of the WHO fandom on LJ and Dreamwidth, or at least staying within my circle of friends. *Sighs* It's just calmer. And less likely to accuse either RTD (who, honestly, has become a hero to me after all these years), Moffat (who's pretty cool himself), etc. of being the Antichrist or his second lieutenant just because they didn't pander to their every nitpicking whim. At least, don't force it on the rest of us, mmkay? It's rude.

STAR WARS: Oh sweet Jesus... *Sighs* Don't get me wrong; there are lovely people in the fandom, but I really, really hate how people seem to either blame Lucas for everything or say that he's a god who can't be criticized. I also really hate people saying you're invalid for having a sort of criticism (e.g. this one guy who tried to tell me I was a shallow pro-genocide person for liking Anakin Skywalker, and who went on about Obi-Wan being a "chronic liar who distorts reality at his own convenience" and saw no difference between the PT and the OT, even though there kind of is, I think. PT!Obi-Wan hasn't gone through what OT!Obi-Wan has yet, for instance), flipping out over the tiniest things (e.g. STAR WARS KINECT -- I can see some of the criticisms, but most on, say, Twitter...yeah), the Luke vs. Anakin wars (yeah, same person who demonized me for liking Anakin compared Luke to Jesus and Anakin to Lucifer. Which...I just don't see. Then again, I have my issues with Luke -- although the same person devaluing what Anakin went through and going on about, to quote Wax Mannequin, nobody paying the price like Luke paid the price -- just because...I dunno, stuff like saying "Then my father is truly dead" when Vader refused to come with him -- seriously, Luke, you never really knew him at all, did you? I don't mind people liking Luke, but I wish they would point out his flaws along with his virtues, and not put down other characters to make him look good. That would be nice, I think), and so on and so forth. *Sighs* And the fact that people are willing to spew hatred on innocent people for something that's not their fault, e.g. Jake Lloyd. Yeah, spewing hatred on a small child. Classy. /sarcasm. *Sighs* Granted, they're not all like that, but I'm...frustrated.

LOTR/THE HOBBIT: It's definitely good to be back in fandom again, but... *Sighs* I really hate the Stop Having Fun Guys Police, e.g. one person whining about the Thorin fangirls "ruining" her fandom (which...I am a Thorin fangirl. I always have been. But it's mostly about his personality -- although his voice also helps. Then again, I tend to fall irrevocably in love with voices. :) -- his warmth, his loyalty, his love for his men...things like that), and some whining about the shippers ruining their fandom, being "sick", etc. Seriously, just stick to your own corner of the fandom if it bugs you so much. It's not hard.

FARSCAPE -- Relatively sane thus far.
-----

Sorry if I ranted, BTW; I guess I just... *Sighs* I'm frustrated. That's really what it boils down to. And I wish I wasn't. It fucking *sucks* being frustrated.

4. I don't hate the Han and Leia pairing per se, but Anakin and Padme took me in and stole my heart (to wax lyrical for a bit) to the point...well, Han and Leia isn't the same as them. Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher work well together, but Anakin and Padme is just so emotional and well-told and moving and hits so many of my buttons to the point that...well, it's just not the same.

7. I'd say going way, way back, Ariel and Eric, Beast and Belle, and Aladdin and Jasmine. Also, Aurora and Phillip.

9. It's come close with STAR WARS, with one guy basically calling me a bad person for liking Anakin Skywalker (because he's human, really. He's also very warm, very kind -- he has his problems here and there, but he's a good man) and sort of gaslighting me in a way by saying that I was the judgmental one, etc. etc. It didn't help that he had a low opinion of women as a whole -- thinking them to be shallow, overemotional-unless-they-agreed-with-him, obsessed with romance and good looks, all while objectifying women and ignoring any feminist criticism like there was no tomorrow. Then again, he didn't tolerate any criticism of Lucas, and seemed to fancy himself one of the only (if not the only) "true fans" left, comparing Luke to Jesus and Anakin to Lucifer (which...hell no), and so on and so forth. It hasn't soured me to STAR WARS, not really, but it's something I'd pay someone to wipe my memories of, that's for sure. *Goes searching for free memory wiping service somewhere*
