Day 8: Best Scene: A New Hope


Honestly, a heck of a lot of them. But I think the Binary Sunset scene is probably my favorite.



I think what makes the scene work is the fact that it's so quiet and so simple, but at the same time, it says so much. It speaks of Luke's restlessness and yearning, his feeling of going nowhere -- a feeling that I think a lot of us can relate to. Really, it's sort of what being a teenager is about, in a way -- that sense of uncertainty, going nowhere, that sense of wondering if there's really something out there for you...at least, that's how I saw it when I first saw A NEW HOPE. Indeed, if nothing else, it's one of those things I love not only about A NEW HOPE, but about the Saga as a whole -- everything about it is just so human. And I think that makes all the difference.

Oh man, I've hardly thought of Star Wars fandom in months - but just seeing that gif brought a huge smile to my face. Great scene; it is just so special - and the first time we hear Luke's/the Force theme (I think), which really makes the moment IMO. :D

Oh, that scene! I can still remember watching it for the first time... I'd been enjoying the movie before that but from that moment I was a FAN. And madly in love with Luke. ;)
