25. I can't really say. I think in any fandom, I at least have one ship or another.

26. Contrary to some...things I've heard in the fandom, I don't think RTD or Steven Moffat ruined DOCTOR WHO. There may have been some missteps here and there or moments I wish didn't happen (Donna, for instance. ;.;), but overall, I think they're both doing a good job. And I really love the hell out of the "defeating the Master with the power of faith" thing. What can I say; it's just really moving. And the Doctor forgiving the Master. *sniffle* Sorry, something in my eye... *is a bit too sentimental for her own good. XD*

I totally agree with you. I think both RTD and Moffat had their problems (and both equally so, in spite of RTD stans who insist Moffat is the devil). But both were also equally good show runners.

And I loved the hell out of the Master storyline in season 3 as well (not so much End of Time).

I thought I had a Master icon. :goes off to find a good one:

Thanks! :D And yeah...I don't think Moffat is the devil either.

I get what you mean. :) Although he definitely had his moments (his conversation with the Doctor, for example, about the drums, and sacrificing himself at the end)...

Forgive ignorance here, but what's an OTP, and why do you have half a page of blank space at the end of your entry? I have to ask, you see. It's what I do. lol

Ahaha this comment made me laugh. Not the OTP thing (One True Pairing btw) but the question about the white space, because I was wondering that too.:p

Ah. Technical difficulties. Sorry. XD I'm typing from my iPhone and it's not very good in the copy-paste department. (Technology, everyone! XD)

Technical difficulties... we've all had 'em on LJ, that's for sure. Technology is wonderful, when it works.

Yeah, I don't understand initials. Everyone abbreviates, and I'm too old to keep up with it all. I'll understand things like TESB or TWOK, but that's about as far as it goes. :)

XD. So true. :)

And ah. I gotcha. I have those issues too, sadly enough. And even with portmanteau names. "What the hell is profic -- *oh*." (Professional fan fiction, BTW. :) So yeah, you're not alone there. XD

Mmmm...I can't say. Probably HARRY POTTER because of all the bullshit at the HMS_STFU (seriously, when your comm is named after the fact you think that you think fans shouldn't express their opinions and that J.K. Rowling is a flawless goddess, you have problems). Pity, really -- it's a good book series. There were some things I disagreed with (for example, I wasn't entirely happy with Voldemort's backstory. Call me insane. XD), but it's very good. For its part. :)

Also, a fandom I was tempted to abandon but haven't: STAR WARS. Just because of all the...well, in-fighting, for lack of a better word. I can't even describe it. It just got too much.

/Probably HARRY POTTER because of all the bullshit at the HMS_STFU (seriously, when your comm is named after the fact you think that you think fans shouldn't express their opinions and that J.K. Rowling is a flawless goddess, you have problems/

Was the point of their community to criticize non-canon ships or just really weird fandom arguments/ships/theories? I remember only reading a few posts in HMS_STFU and as far as I can remember, they were posts about how it was wrong for fans to say that Ginny’s Quidditch abilities and popularity came out of nowhere (I don’t exactly remember the counterarguments, though), the Weasleys were the most misunderstood members of HP fandom rather than the Slytherins, Ron/Hermione made sense as a ship because “opposites attract” (and Dumbledore/Grindelwald proved that people with similar interests weren’t always going to end up well together) and that certain people who didn’t like Ginny or Lily were just jealous of the popular cheerleaders from high school and were subconsciously transferring their jealousy to Ginny and Lily. So, yeah, I’m not certain of what their aims were.

/for example, I wasn't entirely happy with Voldemort's backstory. Call me insane. XD/

No, no, I agree with you. Sure, his background was one of the most interesting parts of HBP, and in the beginning, I did like it, mostly because it was a welcome respite from the tiresome soap opera of Lavender/Ron/Hermione/Cormac and Romilda/Harry/Ginny/Dean. But yeah…Tom Riddle’s background *really* doesn’t support the theme of choices that was echoed throughout the series, nor does it introduce any conflict by way of Harry possibly ending up like Tom. Tom’s background basically spells out that Tom was born evil and that’s that.

Yeah. And probably throwing around the word "fen" and "fanbrats" -- then again, I really don't get the terms in general. I don't know why. :/

But yeah -- can it just be that they aren't fans of Ginny or Lily? Or the Weasleys? I mean, I don't mind them too much, but I can see why others would have problems with them. No one's opinion is invalid (speaking more generally, really).

Well, that's a relief. :) I know that I was thinking during HBP, "Something's off about this picture and I don't know what or why." But yeah...it really doesn't tie into the thing about choices and such. It really doesn't.

The problem with that community is that they only ever pointed to the extremes of one side. They never pointed to the extremists on the "completely love everything in canon" side. They were very obviously prejudiced. Some people tried to point to specific, similar sorts of things coming from that side and were told that those things wouldn't be posted at the community.

And it did reach a point at times where they insisted certain non-canon ships shouldn't even exist and mocked people for interpreting canon differently than they did.

Mostly I try to stay with the milder side of the Potter fandom. There are extremists on all sides that are the loudest and most annoying, but there are also some awesome people from all different viewpoints and interpretations.

Ugh, really? Well, I know I'm definitely not going to join that comm any time soon (er, not that I wanted to). Honestly, I think it was J.K. Rowling white-knighting -- nothing more. :/

And good decision. :)

A Book 6 (HP) prediction fic involving Harry/Ginny and James and Lily coming back to life, and Jack Sloper (one of the Gryffindor Beaters in Book 5) turning evil. Yeah...can't say it was very good, sadly. :/

Yeah, it was. Maybe if I could find it somewhere...
