IKR?

I always thought the Krayt dragon call was cool, they should leave that alone. And that part about Vader saying nooo, is it really necessary?

I guess it's a nice mirror to both instances in ROTS (Anakin saying it when Mace is about to kill Sidious in cold blood, and Vader screaming it after Sidious breaks the news about him "killing" Padme), but otherwise...no. Sometimes actions speak louder than words could ever do.

I figured as much, but to me it's overdoing it.

Did you read the comments?
They're bad, but I was cracking up. I guess people realy are tired of all the fiddling around with the movies.

They can't stand anything that's new. That's why. That's why some people hated the LOTR movies, after all. (Other than the "They Changed X and Y and Z" people, who are...slightly more reasonable) #Sorry, grumpy.

But why mess with something that works just fine as it is?
They are changing the Star Wars they loved as a kid.
To me Han always shoots first. Because that is the Star Wars that I watched.

The LOTR movies are fantastic, I love them. And Peter Jackson is better than Lucas (go complain about that, bashers of disappointed Star Wars fans).
But I totally understand why some fans never why they never wanted the movies, because nothing replaces the theater of one's own imagination.

Just because something is new doesn' mean it's good or needs to be done.

Maybe Lucas just wasn't happy with it. It happens. Honestly, the only reasons one would hate the Special Editions is because "George Lucas Raped My Childhood" (i.e. I can't accept change in any way, shape or form because I'm an entitled brat who has to resort to rape metaphors because my vocabulary's as limited as Biff Tannen's *). And I frankly don't give a shit about "who shot first". It's just a scene. There are things far more worth your time than "who shot first".

On a lighter note, I definitely agree regarding Peter Jackson. But regarding the fans -- some of them have good reasons they don't like the movies (elizabeth_hoot, for example), but I think the other more hardcore fans mostly wanted Peter and co. kissing their asses instead of a good balance of adaptation-to-workable-on-screen ratio. (And that sounded better in my head)

Just because something is new doesn' mean it's good or needs to be done.

And just because it's old doesn't mean it's good either. A lot of the "cult classics" back then were So Bad It's Good at best. If you're going to criticize something new (looking at you, IMDB) at least criticize it for a reason outside, say, "Leonardo DiCaprio is a queer who can't act" (I'm Not Making This Up). Or -- looking at you, bloodrunsclear -- "Sam Worthington is a worthless pretty boy who can't act." Neither of these are true.

(I'm sorry, eldritch; I'm just slightly irritable today)

* I'm not referring to you, BTW -- I'm mostly referring to the idiots off LJ.

I'm not talking about what online jerks are saying. They are in every camp, including Prequel lovers, and Revan worshippers, as well as the Prequels bashers and Lucas haters. So I don't care what trauma they claim about their dysfunctional childhood over some movie. I just laugh at them.

I don't like some of the CGI effects added to Star Wars. Some of it is very good, nice additions and fixes, some of it changes something more major than you may realize at first.

Lucas took Han Solo OOC when he changed that shooting scene. "Shoot first" showed that Han was smart, if mean, and did what he needed to do to live in the galaxy he was in. It sets the whole tone of the movie, at least for Han, the grittiness of life on the Rim, and the business Han was in, and why he would even need to leave the Rebellion so he could pay off Jabba. If he had to shoot first, he had some serious issues that needed to be taken care of.
When Lucas first made the movie, he put a lot of thought of how to convey the atmosphere and he did it effectively, which is why so many people just loved it unconditionally. But when Lucas started changing things, he subtly, but certainly changed the movie. And some people reacted (over reacted, really) badly.
Lucas may not be happy with it, but, damn, it worked like magic with the original. If it weren't for the ANH original, he wouldn't even be able to make changes today.

I was thinking of people like elizabeth_hoot when I said that some people have good reason to not like the LOTR movies. I am not even aware of, nor even care about what haters on the internet say. I'm very disappointed, but don't want to waste the time or energy over some Olivia Tyler hating dipshit. I try to stay away from crap like that because I won't let them ruin a great movie for me.

That's all right, *hugs* hope you're feeling better. Anakin wants you to be happy.

Thanks!

Re: Special Edition, a lot of the stuff I really like, some of it, meh, some of it, like Jabba, could have been done better.
From: [identity profile] ladyhadhafang.livejournal.com
*Hugs back* Thank you. :) *Sighs* You don't...hate me or anything, do you?

And you're welcome.

And yeah, Jabba could have been done better. Doesn't make the lost ANH footage any less awesome, though.

You're welcome!

No, I don't hate you at all!!! Why? You're a wonderful person!
These are just silly movies that we love that we sometimes get mad at, at times, lol!

But puttting Boba Fett in that Jabb scene was perfect. It's like he was there all along.

Thanks. :) *Sighs* I guess I'm just not feeling well -- that and after doing a pretty emotionally exhausting rant about Han and Leia in LOTF...I just get this weird feeling no one wants to hear what I have to say. #Which is stupid, really. There's no reason for it.

Very well-said regarding STAR WARS. (Especially Boba Fett, for that matter) :) *Hugs*

Take it easy!
I just responded to your rant about Han and Leia. I am shocked about the info.

Thanks! More *hugs*

Both thanks and you're welcome. :) *Hugs more*

And yeah..."shocked" is a good way to put it. Even first hearing about it, I was pretty nauseated, to say the least. :(

LOL

*sigh*

I have like three different versions of all six movies. Now there is a fourth (3D) and a fifth (BluRay) coming out....

wow

*hopes you're all right there:)*

Jeebus. That's a lot of versions. Let's see here...

Original [original original] on VHS. 1997 special editions. 2004 re-release. And then the 3D? Wow, when did they release that? And blu-ray...of course that's not counting the PT versions, but then again, those have just been VHS and DVD.

Yah I'm alright. Just ticked off.

I have the (I think) the 1997, the 2004, and the limited release of the original original version of movies on DVD.

They are in the process of releasing the 3D films in the theaters, I think.

Now this Blu-ray stuff.

I hear you. It is annoying.

Bah. Damn damn damn.

Mostly I'm annoyed because this wetsuit I bought has yet to show up, because FedEx has its head up its ass. The Lucas thing...shit. I'm not even surprised, quite frankly. I checked out of the whole affair years ago. As long as I have my 1997 special editions on VHS, my online RP board, and select SW games, then I'm happy.

FedEx is slower than shit. They annoy me. I much prefer UPS.

You have it there. I got my old DVDs, my original KotOR, the books and games that I do like, hell, I wouldn't even know about the 3D or the Blu-Ray, except for my f-list.
