Because none of my icons correspond to the topic in question, puppies! :D

From one of my favorite scenes in the FOTR movie -- Arwen challenging the Nazgul at the Ford of Bruinen. It's obvious that she's frightened -- who wouldn't be, regarding the Nazgul? -- and yet still she manages to stand her ground and call upon some watery death for the Nazgul threatening her and Frodo. That's courage right there. (From arda_icons, naturally. :)

Made by the lovely and talented mlledefer for me at anakin_icontest -- because I adore the Luke/Vader relationship, and that shot of them both on Endor is such a simple shot, yet it manages to give me shivers every time.

Ah, Matthew Stover references. Let's say that this was made for me by the lovely januaried for anakin_icontest -- basically, as a STAR WARS geek, you fall in love with those little phrases and you end up hoarding them. The original phrase comes from the coda to the REVENGE OF THE SITH novelization, after everything's basically gone so wrong -- Obi-Wan's been driven into exile, Padme's died of grief, and Anakin's now become Vader. And yet, in a way, after all this, Stover includes this lovely little coda to show that all is not lost (keep in mind throughout the novel, it's become a bit of a motif with "the dark is generous, patient, always wins, etc."):
The dark is generous, and it is patient, and it always wins - but in the heart of its strength lies weakness: one lone candle is enough to hold it back.
Love is more than a candle.
Love can ignite the stars.
Basically alluding to how eventually, Anakin and Padme's son will come along to save Vader and throw down the Empire. (Oh fuck, even typing this I'm tearing up) Made Harsher In Hindsight when Del Rey basically fucked it up, brought the Sith back, and made Luke a character more unappealing than the Disney version of Judge Claude Frollo, but...*sighs* It's still a lovely quote. #Is way too sentimental for her own good. XD

From arda_icons -- basically, the scene where Arwen starts suffering the, um, consequences of giving up immortality for Aragorn. It's such a sad scene -- especially considering Elrond's reaction to it, and this exchange:
ELROND: Your hands are cold. The life of the Eldar is leaving you.
ARWEN: This was my choice, ada(r?) -- whether by your will or not, there is no ship now that can bear me hence.
Both Hugo Weaving and Liv Tyler's deliveries were spot on in that scene.
I usually use that icon when I'm...very, very sad. Or tired. Or just going through my "i hate the world today" phase. XD
