Pick any character(s) from a fandom of mine and I'll answer the following questions:

1. What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her.
2. Is he/she important to the general plot?
3. Can you relate to this character at all? Does he/she grip you emotionally?
4. How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
5. Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by his/her relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
6. Is there anything about the character you would change?
7. If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how would you see yourself interacting with him/her? Would you get along well? Fall in love with him/her? Dislike? Have a friendly rivalry?
8. Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?
9. Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about this character (if you dislike) to someone new to fandom?
10. Is this character popular with the fanbase?

Because I want to be difficult:

Denethor.

Icon used because I don't have a Denethor icon.

1. I quite like the guy, really. True, he can be kind of a douchecanoe at times to say the least, but he's a really interesting character. That, and I think Pippin definitely brought out some of his gentler traits (even in the movies they try and emphasize that -- although considering Denethor's previous behavior, I think it just made people hate him more. Goddammit, irony. :/). *

2. Pretty much yes. At the very least, he's important to the deeper meaning of LOTR, IMHO.

3. I can't quite relate to Denethor (I just can't see myself in his position), but I can sympathize with him a bit regarding Boromir and everything -- it couldn't have been easy to lose a son. (In fact, I'll admit that the scene where Gandalf starts bossing him around -- when I first watched the movie, it was one of the rare scenes where I disliked Gandalf. Otherwise, Gandalf's Made of Win. :) As for emotionally -- I'll admit, he frightens me a little. Especially his movie incarnation -- there's something about John Noble's presence that's just pretty unnerving. (Which is ironic considering that from the special features, he's quite a likeable guy. :) And the scene with the funeral pyre -- it was pretty hard to watch it without -- well, is it just me, or was Denethor really perving over Faramir during the pyre scene? *Shudders* Just something about his body language and delivery sort of sets off my No Yay Alarms whenever I rewatch the scene -- before Pippin and Gandalf make their grand entrance, that is. :)

Yeah, let's say movie!Denethor gives me nightmares. Book!Denethor on the other hand, I feel a bit more sympathy for. :) I still think John Noble did a good job, though. :)

4. A lot. I remember back when I was in middle school, I was just picking up every Tolkien-related thing I could get my hands on -- I just wanted to learn more about this world and these characters. I even tried to learn Elvish at one point -- I can't say it went well. Elvish is a *bitch* to learn, I tell you. XD

5. I'd personally like to see his relationship with Aragorn explored more.

6. Probably have him survive the siege of Minas Tirith and make amends with Faramir.

7. Alas, we'd probably clash a lot.

8. He's not a favorite per se, but I do quite like him.

9. A little of both. Because he's a fucked up character, but that's why I like him. :)

10. Alas, no. I think it's mostly because, like Boromir, he's kind of a difficult character to relate to (mostly talking about book!Boromir -- I know book!Boromir got on a lot of people's nerves, I heard. Force knows I wanted to slap him on Amon Hen in the books for the way he was acting -- then give him a hug afterwards), and the whole thing with Faramir and Aragorn did not. Help. At all. (Kinda bonus points regarding the Faramir thing considering that it hits close to home for some people. *Hugs Faramir tightly*) But I think he should be -- he's a highly underrated character, IMHO. :)

* In the books it's a little more obvious though.

Still pretty icon, though!

Oooh, which Elvish! :D I gave up on Sindarin after a while. Languages just aren't my thing.

I do agree 5. and 6. would be lovely to see! :D

1. It's complicated. On the one hand, I love the guy for the...obvious reasons. I mean, he's an awesome friend, a cool guy, a kickass Jedi, etc. But on the other hand, next to things like the Caedus arc and "Compassion is for those who deserve it" and things like that (plus the whole thing about "most powerful Jedi in the galaxy", "Jedi Jesus", "Anakin was irredeemable demon spawn", etc. etc.) just...aggravates me. I love/hate him, to put it mildly.

2. Yes. :)

3. Well, yes. :)

4. A lot. Really. :)

5. Probably Mara or Vader (platonically for the latter)

6. Probably elaborate more on why he wants to redeem Vader. And in the EU, explore his relationship with Caedus a little more.

7. Probably have a Foe Yay-ish relationship with him. The snarky kind, that is.

8. Favorites. What happened in the EU bumped him down a few notches, but he's still one of my favorites.

9. "Avoid the EU at all costs", maybe. XD

10. Yeah. And let's say that JCF was one of many spaces that kind of...soured me towards him, which kind of sucks. I guess it was just the way that they put down Anakin, Padme and others to make him look good, and...*sighs* I kind of get unpleasant flashbacks at times, to say the least. Which sucks. I'm getting better, though. :)

1. He's just awesome and all around likeable. :)

2. Yes. :)

3. Yep.

4. A lot. :)

5. Romantically, Leia or Mara Jade. Platonically, Luke, Obi-Wan or Lando.

6. Maybe go into his backstory more.

7. I'd get along well with him, methinks. :)

8. One of my all time favorites. :)

9. Hype up, all the way! :D

10. Very. :)

Kreia/Darth Traya
From: [identity profile] ladyhadhafang.livejournal.com

1. Kreia's just all around awesome. She's definitely this mixture of Obi-Wan and Palpatine -- but unlike Palpatine, she's not in it for the sake of being evil. She's in it because she genuinely thinks she's doing the right thing -- that, plus considering the galaxy's basically beaten her to the ground (let's say after experiencing the worst of both Jedi and Sith, Kreia's *not* a happy camper, to say the least), plus the whole issue with the Force in the first place -- she has legitimate reasons for wanting to kill the Force. That, plus the fact that she's constantly making you question her motives. She's incredibly bitter -- probably one of the most bitter characters in STAR WARS -- twisted, cynical (and yet strangely optimistic), manipulative, cold -- and yet at the same time, there's a human quality to her in the way she cares about your main character, the Exile -- I think in a way the Exile was the only one to really make her happy, when no one else could.

2. You bet your biscuits! XD Fun fact: Chris Avellone, the main writer on the game, said that Kreia was mostly inspired by the "from a certain point of view" stuff in Episodes V-VI. And it shows, to say the least.

3. Considering all the stuff that's going on in the EU (plus Anakin's story, poor Anakin. :( ), I can definitely sympathize/relate to her. And she really does grip me emotionally -- she terrifies me, but at the same time, she's sympathetic. I definitely know the final showdown with her in the Trayus Core emotionally affected me -- granted, she does Get Better (and it turns out that what she was doing was an act anyways -- yeah, she's pretty confusing like that. XD), but dayum...

4. A helluvalot, to put it mildly. XD

5. Romantic-wise, if you go with the "Kreia-is-Arren-Kae" theory (which puts a very Anakin-esque spin on the whole thing, IMHO), Yusanis (as well as Sion, if only for the emotional Squick factor. Just think Anakin and Palpatine -- with Kreia as Palpatine -- gone horribly, horribly wrong after Anakin decides to snap and go on a rampage). Platonic-wise, Atton (I just love her bickering with him. XD) and the Exile, male or female (God knows the Exile needs it. *Hugs the Exile tightly*), as well as Atris (just for the mirrors thing), Revan (it's my headcanon that they had a pretty good relationship before Revan fell -- and even after, considering how Kreia defends him/her) and Brianna (again, leading back to the Kreia-as-Kae theory).

6. Probably have her survive Malachor V.

7. I doubt I'd get along with Kreia very well, but we'd have interesting conversations to say the least. That, or I'd run like hell. XD

8. Favorites.

9. Hype up, probably. She definitely makes KOTOR II worthwhile, IMHO.

10. She's very polarizing. Then again, a lot of KOTOR II is polarizing, to put it mildly.
