Finally got around to watching Revenge of the Sith and so far, my opinions have been...really different compared to everyone else's. :/ Thought Anakin killing Dooku was a bit of a Wall Banger (and a minor Dethroning Moment of Suck for Anakin's character, plus a really bad exercise in Mood Whiplash. In short, it hit the WTF trifecta). Thought the elevator shenanigans were awesome and funny, and that Anakin's jab at Grievous was not only hilarious (if a little mean) but also awesome considering that he's basically flipping off the slaughterer of millions. And I thought the Anakin/Padme reunion was just...adorable. True, the dialogue's cheesy, but...it's Narm Charm, really. :) It's cheesy, but it works. That, and this line just breaks my heart (thanks to Hayden Christensen's delivery, and John Williams' beautiful score. :):
ANAKIN: This is the happiest moment. The happiest moment of my life.
Considering what happens later, permission to curl in a corner and have a good cry? :(
Reasons why:
-This is the Anakin that George Lucas should have been writing from the start. Kind, warm...sort of the man that Obi-Wan made him look like. The man I got to know and love. :)
-Unlike everyone else, I love these characters in the prequel trilogy, and their relationships. True, they can't beat the Original Trilogy, but it still makes me sad that Anakin's stupid decision is going to end it.
That, and Anakin's character in general makes me a little teary. (Unprovoked Dooku killing aside) He is, to paraphrase Jack Black's character from the remake of King Kong, the saddest damn kid ever. :(

Date: 2011-02-12 10:07 pm (UTC)I've actually always liked the banter on the bridge: what, some people don't like it? Oh well, to each their own.
Also, the thing is, a certain level of cheesiness is, IMO, a good thing for many romances (or friendships) between characters. So although that line never impacted me on a personal level, I do like it. So, if you wish for permission to go curl up, it is definitely granted.

Date: 2011-02-13 12:06 am (UTC)-Permission to see the collab project you're working on? It sounds interesting. :)
-I adore the banter on the bridge as well. Number one because it gives Anakin the opportunity to flip Grievous off (figuratively, that is. :) and number two, because of this line:
OBI-WAN: We have a job to do, Anakin; try not to upset [Grievous].
Oh, Obi-Wan. Your comic timing is *impeccable*. XD
And I agree regarding the cheesiness as well. :)
(Good to see you drop by, BTW. :)

Date: 2011-02-15 06:28 am (UTC)Well, the, er, project has been taking place on the board for the game adaption of Revenge of the Sith these past few years. The relevant topics are the ones maxed out (that is, with 500 posts) plus the ones marked with "CF" in their titles. Of course, the project began before topic archiving began on GameFAQs, so the early days are missing. I do still plan on eventually going through and trying to write up the meandering road into a proper fic, but given my continuing up-and-down campaign against procrastination, I have no idea when that might be--especially since I have so many other things to do that I must consider higher priority than that. So this would be as far back as the online 'record' goes, followed by this topic, this one, and then this being the most recent. I apologize for not being able to give you an easier way to look at the thing. I do have everything saved, from near the very beginning over five years ago, but it's, er, quite a lot of material: I can look into sending it all along if you're interested, but I absolutely must warn you that it's long (though you can already tell that by those links), wandering, and though at times quite good, its quality is up-and-down, in my personal opinion. And, of course, definitely incomplete (and we've been pretty quiet these past few months--again, as you can see from those links).
Obi-Wan always did have good timing, I must say.

Date: 2011-02-15 12:42 pm (UTC)I'll admit, in regards to the tone shift, I was mostly listening to the movie while I browsed (which may not have been the most reliable way of watching. :/), and occasionally making stream-of-consciousness observations on Notepad. (Note to self: Properly kick back and relax to watch Episode III. :)
And yes, Obi-Wan's comic timing is *impeccable*. I have to say my personal favorite (besides the don't-taunt-Grievous scene. XD) involves him landing in front of Grievous and the Separatists with a casual, "Hello there." XD
Some people have said that ROTS "wasn't dark enough"; me, I disagree. :) Considering the subject matter, you need some levity in between it all. Otherwise...well, it becomes dreadfully dull, really. :/
