Oh Jesus, I have a *lot* of fears...
Sharks. Tsunamis. Body Horror. Mental illness of any kind. Being overweight. Freddy goddamn Krueger. Fucking Black Swan. Not being good enough. Being ignored. Being ridiculed, especially after I worked hard on something. Humans are Bastards. The list goes on and on.
(Seriously, I think I inherited the whole "worrying" thing from my mom. :)
Anyways, I wouldn't call it "overcoming", but the fears do pass in time. I've been talking a bit with Freddy (as a fictional character, that is) and when he's "off-duty", he's quite a decent fellow. (To make sense of it, I've been getting to know him via writing him) And besides, dying in your sleep's a pretty rare occurence. I mean, it's very real, but it's still rare.
Mostly, though, I try to deal with my fears via comedy. Something about taking the piss out of scary things just really helps. That or logic: sharks mostly attack because they mistake their human prey for seals (mostly because their eyesight is as terrible as mine. XD), tsunamis don't happen too often and if they did they'd have the warning system. And so on and so forth.
A bit off-topic: I got my personality test back (you know, for potential careers), and got an ASR (Artistic-Social-Realistic) result. Ironically, considering that "Law" was on the list of subjects I'd most despise, one of my suggested careers was "attorney".
Still, it was pretty interesting, seeing my results.
And I also have an internship at a theater. Whoo! XD
