Finally got around to watching Revenge of the Sith and so far, my opinions have been...really different compared to everyone else's. :/ Thought Anakin killing Dooku was a bit of a Wall Banger (and a minor Dethroning Moment of Suck for Anakin's character, plus a really bad exercise in Mood Whiplash. In short, it hit the WTF trifecta). Thought the elevator shenanigans were awesome and funny, and that Anakin's jab at Grievous was not only hilarious (if a little mean) but also awesome considering that he's basically flipping off the slaughterer of millions. And I thought the Anakin/Padme reunion was just...adorable. True, the dialogue's cheesy, but...it's Narm Charm, really. :) It's cheesy, but it works. That, and this line just breaks my heart (thanks to Hayden Christensen's delivery, and John Williams' beautiful score. :):
ANAKIN: This is the happiest moment. The happiest moment of my life.
Considering what happens later, permission to curl in a corner and have a good cry? :(
Reasons why:
-This is the Anakin that George Lucas should have been writing from the start. Kind, warm...sort of the man that Obi-Wan made him look like. The man I got to know and love. :)
-Unlike everyone else, I love these characters in the prequel trilogy, and their relationships. True, they can't beat the Original Trilogy, but it still makes me sad that Anakin's stupid decision is going to end it.
That, and Anakin's character in general makes me a little teary. (Unprovoked Dooku killing aside) He is, to paraphrase Jack Black's character from the remake of King Kong, the saddest damn kid ever. :(
