Ohh that review about the villains sounds so silly to me, seeing how complex villains are my favorite thing about fiction. For me villains pretty much make or break a story and I can't believe anyone would rather read about flat characters :D but yeah anything that gets love gets hate too, different strokes for different folks etc. I definitely hope you don't let those opinions get to you or affect your writing too much, I mean self doubt is obviously human and everyone has it but really there's no point in trying to please everyone cause it's simply impossible! So, just do your own thing without compromising too much, and the right readers will like it just as it is :)
