3. Ursula (The Little Mermaid)

4. Elphaba/The Wicked Witch of the West

5. The Red Queen from AMERICAN MCGEE'S ALICE

(That's just a sampling, really. I mean, I love villainesses so much, which is no surprise considering that I love villains, that it was pretty hard to pick)

2. Martha Jones

3. Donna Noble

4. Amy Pond

5. Nancy Thompson/Holbrook (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, original and the remake. *)

* Which really needs more love, BTW. Yeah, it has its faults, but overall, I think it's a really good reimagining of the original A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET.

1. Nancy Holbrook. I love Nancy Thompson as well, but there's something about Nancy Holbrook that has a special place in my heart. I like how they left her room to become stronger, and I like how...relatable she was. Especially considering she reminded me of myself. Quiet, shy, kind of lonely...and it really makes her Taking A Level In Badass at the end of the film all the more satisfying.

2. Jamie Lloyd. I've really only seen Halloween 5, but let's just say...really love this character.

3. Rose Tyler. Because she's Rose! Brave, strong, kind, clever, funny, and really relatable.

4. Donna Noble. Because she's funny, she's bold, she's brave, she's clever, she's friendly, she's kind, and she's more than willing to call the Doctor out on things, which I think is awesome. That and she actually saved the Doctor from basically committing suicide after he lost Rose. In short, Donna is just awesome and amazing and wonderful.

5. Padme. Because she's noble, kind, selfless -- she's just amazing.

Part One -- Love Interests

Date: 2013-09-06 01:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ladyhadhafang.livejournal.com
1. Nora from HUSH HUSH. Seriously, I've only read zelda_queen's recaps of HUSH HUSH, and I felt just really depressed afterwards. The recaps were awesome, but the quoted passages...dear God.

2. Ana Steele from FIFTY SHADES OF GRAY. Another instance where, while gehayi's recaps were amazing, the quoted passages left me Squicked.

3. Vestara Khai from FATE OF THE JEDI. The sad thing is, I thought that her and Ben getting together was a really intriguing idea, because a Jedi and a Sith falling in love? That's an awesome idea! Then came ASCENSION, where this happened (warning for triggering content: http://darth-eldritch.livejournal.com/106325.html) as well as the point where for me, Ben Skywalker crossed the Moral Event Horizon. I just...if this were me numbering things in order, I think this would be number one on my list, if only for how it broke my freaking heart.

4. Hermione Granger. I don't know; I just didn't really find her and Ron necessarily compatible. I don't have problems with Belligerent Sexual Tension, but I remember reading the books and being a tad uncomfortable in some parts. I think the movies actually did it better.

5. Satine Kryze, at least in "The Lawless". Just...Obi-Wan, goddamn you.

Hermione and Ron never clicked for me either. Their "bickering" was too often deliberately hurtful, and you never saw any apologies. I also don't see a driven woman like Hermione forever tolerating Ron's utter laziness/lack of motivation. And I was irritated by the gimmicky book Ron used in Deathly Hallows: instead of actually trying to be a better man, he just parroted some stupid tricks from a book to win her. Meh.

Yeah, I like Ron/Hermione but there are times I wanted to hit Ron. Movie!Ron sometimes acts like a jerk, but not to the point where I wanted to hit him REALLY hard.

Part Two -- Narratives (Warning: Anger ahead)

1. Satine Kryze during the whole Mandalore arc. Just...oy fucking vey. You know what I said about Clone Wars Season Five being hit or miss? The Mandalore arc was definitely a miss, made worse by the fact that it had just *fantastic* potential. Hell, the episode "Eminence" kicked ass. But the rest of the arc was just set up for the sake of humiliating Satine and utterly Chickifying her, before Stuffing Her In The Fridge to provide Obi-Wan cheap angst. And it was just made ickier by fangirlblog going on about how noble Obi-Wan was for "surviving" and I was like, "What about Satine? She suffered so much simply because she was a pacifist, she stood up for her beliefs, she gave so much, and she got *nothing*." I know it was one of those moments that led me to deciding to unsubscribe from fangirlblog. I'm not denying that Obi-Wan also suffered, but the way fangirlblog used Satine's death as an excuse to paint Obi-Wan as a saint was just icky.

2. Vestara Khai. Because seriously, the poor thing deserves better than this. Especially after Ben Skywalker abused her in ASCENSION.

3. Nora from HUSH HUSH.

4. Ana Steele from FIFTY SHADES OF GRAY.

5. Pretty much every female character in the STAR WARS Expanded Universe ever. Yeah, I know, cheating, but when I was thinking of female characters I'd love to save -- well, first, Mara Jade came to mind, because she got derailed big time in LOTF. Then Jaina Solo, because they focused less on her being a kickass heroine and more on her just being awful (for example, "joking" about her brother being killed by Alema Rar. I dunno; it was a moment like that -- although I guess reading the books out of order didn't help -- where I just hated her) and her whole relationships business, then Tahiri Veila just because of the bullshit she went through in stuff like NJO, DARK NEST, etc. Really, I don't think any character from the Expanded Universe really makes it out unscathed, but the female characters...I could write a whole fucking novel about their mistreatment. It's really stuff like that which is why I've turned to DOCTOR WHO, HALLOWEEN, etc. -- because say what you will about them, but among other things, they definitely treat their female characters better than the Star Wars Expanded Universe ever did.

1. Laurie Strode. I haven't got to H20 and Resurrection yet, but let's say that the thought of what happens to her is really goddamn depressing.

2. Jamie Lloyd. Yeah... (Believe it or not, Daniel Ferrands, who wrote Halloween 6 before getting the script tampered with, actually originally wrote Jamie pulling a You Shall Not Pass on Michael in order for the others to escape. Imagine how awesome that would have been!)

3. Pretty much every female character in the Star Wars Expanded Universe ever. It's really why I've soured on the EU in recent years (well, one of many reasons); it's really not kind to its female characters. (That and it thinks that a strong female character is an unlikable character that really isn't strong at all, but that's another story entirely) If we were ranking these in order of how painful they are, this would be number one.

4. Donna Noble. Her ending just breaks my fucking heart. (Seriously, Russell T. Davies, that was just really damn cruel)

5. Rose Tyler. To put it this way, I miss Rose so much. ;.;
