In honour of All Hallow's Eve, I'm inviting trick-or-treaters to my 'door.' Comment "trick-or-treat" to this post and...well, you know the drill. Treats can be anything that strikes my fancy (pics of fave actors or pairings, one sentence fics, graphics, a few words why I'm glad to have you on my flist, etc. etc.).
The more "houses" to visit the more fun it'll be, so go ahead, open your journal and help spread the fun!

Date: 2012-10-29 10:34 pm (UTC)Also, I need more Doctor/Donna icons. And Donna icons in general.
--------
It was a bit odd, though not in a bad way, to be traveling with this new Donna. This new Time Lady Donna. There were traces of her that we're still the same: her wit, her compassion, and so many other things, her willingness to call him out on things that seemed wrong to her, as well as...honestly, just about everything else, come to think of it. She was still the young woman who had been transported onboard his TARDIS on her wedding day. And yet at the same time, there was something in her that was new. She still had memories left over that were...almost like his. It was uncanny at times. And yet it fit. They were a team, after all. No, more than that. They were *the* team. And nothing, Donna had said, would stand in their way.
It was long after they had encountered the Cracetans on Primus IV, long after they had managed to stop them from essentially holding existence itself hostage, that they were heading back to the TARDIS. They had ultimately managed to save the day (mostly with Donna's help), and yet at the same time, the Doctor could not help but feel, if only slightly, uneasy. The Lord of the Cracetans, who had told him of his impending death in battle, very soon.
His death he could probably take. But Donna's? He had nearly lost her multiple times. He doubted he could lose her again. At least, depending on the death...
"Hey." Donna's voice, cutting into his thoughts. "Are you all right?"
"I am," the Doctor said. "A bit."
"It's..."
"Yeah." The Doctor could still remember what the Emperor had said. //...the Children of War about to die in battle, very very soon.//
Donna grinned. "Come on, spaceman," she said, "Do you really think that anyone is going to stop us? I mean...we're invincible. I'm sure the entire universe knows it by now. The Doctor and Donna. The team."
Perhaps she was right. And yet...
"I don't know, Donna," he said, "I mean, the nightmares...you saw *him*, didn't you?"
Donna seemed to falter, if slightly. "Him? Yes."
"What if we're up against an enemy we can't beat? I mean...that I can't beat." That was what the Doctor was trying to say, really. More than anything else.
Donna squeezed his hand. "Then I'll be right beside you the whole way. And that's a fact."
And in spite of himself, the Doctor found himself smiling, if slightly. Perhaps he was destined to die in battle, him and Donna, as the Cracetan Emperor had foretold...but they would go out fighting all the way.
Because they were a team. The team.
And no matter what happened, they always would be.
