I'm not talking about what online jerks are saying. They are in every camp, including Prequel lovers, and Revan worshippers, as well as the Prequels bashers and Lucas haters. So I don't care what trauma they claim about their dysfunctional childhood over some movie. I just laugh at them.
I don't like some of the CGI effects added to Star Wars. Some of it is very good, nice additions and fixes, some of it changes something more major than you may realize at first.
Lucas took Han Solo OOC when he changed that shooting scene. "Shoot first" showed that Han was smart, if mean, and did what he needed to do to live in the galaxy he was in. It sets the whole tone of the movie, at least for Han, the grittiness of life on the Rim, and the business Han was in, and why he would even need to leave the Rebellion so he could pay off Jabba. If he had to shoot first, he had some serious issues that needed to be taken care of. When Lucas first made the movie, he put a lot of thought of how to convey the atmosphere and he did it effectively, which is why so many people just loved it unconditionally. But when Lucas started changing things, he subtly, but certainly changed the movie. And some people reacted (over reacted, really) badly. Lucas may not be happy with it, but, damn, it worked like magic with the original. If it weren't for the ANH original, he wouldn't even be able to make changes today.
I was thinking of people like elizabeth_hoot when I said that some people have good reason to not like the LOTR movies. I am not even aware of, nor even care about what haters on the internet say. I'm very disappointed, but don't want to waste the time or energy over some Olivia Tyler hating dipshit. I try to stay away from crap like that because I won't let them ruin a great movie for me.
Re: Warning: Rant. Not directed at you in particular -- just some general rage I want to get out.
