Post a comment, and I will reply with a reason why I think you're great. In exchange, it would be cool if you could post this same meme on your blog and comment for other people, but really you don't have to.

Date: 2011-06-24 02:48 am (UTC)Hey. Would you mind too terribly if I wanted to have a conversation with you here on LJ, get to know you?
If you say no, I completely understand and won't be hurt. Online friendships are haphazard, etc etc etc...

Date: 2011-06-24 05:57 pm (UTC)So you want to be a screenwriter? How, when, why did you decide to go in that direction? I want to hear all about it : )

Date: 2011-06-24 07:04 pm (UTC)As for the "why", let's say...I think we definitely need our stories back, in a way. Don't get me wrong; I don't hate most of the modern movies (hell, for every bad movie we've made, we've had plenty of good ones, IMHO. :), but...*sighs* I kind of want to make a degree of difference in the world. That, and I just love the medium in general. :)

Date: 2011-06-24 10:15 pm (UTC)I know the 'airbender' movie is based off of the Avatar anime, right?
Yah I read some of your posts regarding the recent LOTF novels. In what way are you adapting them, and KOTOR2?
Nah I gotcha. It seems like all the raw story concepts that go into Hollywood get screened and filtered, and the original concept gets bastardized in some way or another. Foreign films however seem to be much more artistic, while Hollywood films are formulaic.

Date: 2011-06-24 10:20 pm (UTC)Yep, it's the very one. :)
I'll be honest, in terms of KOTOR II -- I'm going to be adapting some of the original concepts for the game to the screen as well as -- you know, what's already there. Things like Nihilus being the Exile, etc. etc. And with LOTF -- same, although I'll probably try and flesh out some things, like Luke, etc. etc.

Date: 2011-06-25 06:45 pm (UTC)I love that game too. :) I definitely hope I'll be able to adapt some of the sidequests; I just love them. Just the characters involved. :) That, and I'll be elaborating a bit more on some of the characters, such as Brianna's relationship with Atris and Visas' relationship with Nihilus (I always see Visas as sort of a "dark mirror" to Brianna, really), as well as Sion's obsession with the Exile. I'm also restoring the original go-through for Malachor, with the party trying and failing to take down Traya, who kind of poses a...Sadistic Choice, for lack of a better word, on you. Also going with the Kreia-is-Kae theory, if only because it kind of deepens the story a little more, IMHO. :)
So TL;DR, I'm kind of going along the lines of the LOTR movies, i.e. Pragmatic Adaptation: stick to the essence and events of the story, but don't be afraid to change things around a bit. I just think it's sort of the "happy medium" way of adaptations, instead of adapting too loosely or too closely. (But then again, it's not always a bad thing -- Disney's HOND (I love that movie to pieces. :3) and THE WIZARD OF OZ have definitely proven it. It's just where I feel comfortable. :)
Honestly, it dominated my senior year of high school, and quite a big chunk of my first year of college :p
I can definitely imagine.
Out of curiosity, what are your most hated cliches in movies? Mostly curious if only because...well, I mostly want to know what to avoid, just in case. :)

Date: 2011-06-26 05:46 am (UTC)I'm digging that Visas-Brianna comparison. Just...you got a good head on your shoulders, you know that?
Still wondering how Nihlius is the Exile. Because, ZOMGZ. I mean, its not canon, but it IS a novel concept. My initial thought when I read it was "maybe Nihlius is the Exile's Dark Side incarnate...that darkness that she didn't give into, which escaped from her as she cut her connection off to the Force, and became its own entity. The Exile's dark reflection." That about right?
Honestly I've been thinking it would be cool to see the KOTOR games adapted into a TV miniseries. Because honestly, there is just so much character and plot development to be had, that it couldn't possibly all fit into one movie. Everything you just mentioned would be so beautiful to see if it was all given its proper dues in an episode. Every character and idea oughta be given enough attention so folks can truly appreciate it all, you know?
Nah I gotcha. Adaptation from one medium to another always does require some artistic liberty, but sticking in one's comfort zone is good too :)
Most hated cliches...first thing to come to mind is something I see not just in movies, but even in Mass Effect 2 as well. When a character armed with a pistol or rifle pulls said weapon on enemy, and have to switch the safety off, or just cocking the weapon. Which is dumb. If a true professional was going into combat, he/she would already have their weapon ready. In lieu of said switching off the safety/cocking/reloading, a character, if truly determined, would just shoot their target in the leg [below the knee] to show them they mean business. "Next shot is going in the lung fuckstick!" or something badass like that.
In that same regard, I also hate when firearm magazines are referred to as "clips," which is simply incorrect. Which in your case isn't an issue, since in SW they're just 'blaster packs.' Anyway...
I'm trying to think of things to avoid when it comes to character and plot development...OH. Full expositions of a character's thought. At random, or at simply inappropriate times. How to explain...I saw it in a comic book the other week. Marvel Zombies. Zombie Spider-Man (don't ask) was just casually explaining why he likes to joke a lot [answer being to ease his mind, of course]. But instead of making it a serious issue which he would confide to a friend about, he just blabs on while the whole group listens. Just rubbed me the wrong way. In the case of the crews from both games, though, it seems like the characters would only confide in those they trust. Mission to Carth, Bao-Dur to the Exile, Brianna to Mira, etc etc...for some odd reason, that makes me want to see Visas flirt with Canderous. The whole "you are coming with us" bit could definitely be expanded. Hmm...

Date: 2011-06-26 08:19 pm (UTC)Yep, I'm definitely working the search for Revan into a subplot, of sorts. :) You know, all the information about Revan leading up to Malachor (and apparently, Obsidian's original plan, I've heard, was to have Revan return to Malachor, but Bioware and LucasArts pretty much axed it. :/).
I'm digging that Visas-Brianna comparison. Just...you got a good head on your shoulders, you know that?
Thanks! :D
Yeah, it's definitely one of those ideas that just...hits you. :)

And definite agreement regarding a miniseries! :D #Ponders. :)

And don't worry -- the Visas/Canderous thing will *definitely* be expanded. :)

Date: 2011-06-27 07:09 am (UTC)Well, gosh golly. We're on the same page here! Neato. So, tell me about your screen name. What does it mean?
no subject
Date: 2011-06-27 03:48 pm (UTC)As for the origin of my screenname...let's say I'm a bit of an LOTR/Peter Jackson fangirl. Read the books in middle school -- they rocked, of course. :3 The movies also rocked. ^^ Anyways, the name "hadhafang" is the name of Arwen's sword in the movie -- she's the one who carries Frodo to Rivendell in the movie after he's wounded by the Nazgul. Apparently the sword belonged to her grandmother, Idril Celebrindal -- one of Tolkien's many, many kickass women. :3 Seriously, next time someone accuses an LOTR female of being weak, I'm going to direct them to the SILMARILLION. Because they *rock* there, especially. :) So yeah...definitely a bit of an Arwen fangirl, though. Loved her in the books, loved her even more in the movies. :)

Whats TGWTG?
Well gosh golly, what do I do...I graduated two years ago with a history degree, and have been more or less unemployed [yaye, I love the world!...not] since. To kill time to not go insane, I try and hangout with old and new friends around town. But I also enjoy a lot of activities by myself. I like to bike ride, play video games, write game reviews, write at my SW RP site, and when I get enough energy, I want to try and get back into writing history essays on various topics [The Crusades, the Celts, etc etc]. Also do a bit of airsofting, and I've been working on a Splinter Cell [Ubisoft game series] outfit that I want to wear to a cosplay convention at some point.

Date: 2011-06-28 06:14 pm (UTC)Thanks :) Yah its a bother. I've had little jobs here and there, seasonal crap, but I think at this point the only thing holding me back from even applying now is my own cynicism. I'm lucky for what I have [I live with my dad, and he's not pushy] and everything. Right now I'm actually trying to get into the Army for Officers Training, so I've been studying for the ASVAB.
So yah, I was in college up in Oregon [Ashland, to be exact] from 05-09, moved back home to the San Francisco Bay Area, then moved back up to live with my then girlfriend. Broke up last summer [its ok, it was a college relationship that lasted longer than it should have], and now I've been home for a year now. You?
