Yeah there are people who still are like "lalalala Harry/Hermione I don't care lalalala!" or a number of other things. But it seems this one was rather vicous. I don't think I've ever heard anything about J.K. Rowling or hell, even Stephenie Meyer getting really involved in the ship wars. I think J.K. Rowling even admitted to reading HP fanfiction.
*sigh* Man part of me can't wait for all the ship wars that will ineveitably happen with Korra.
