Star Wars Meme, Day Three
Feb. 23rd, 2013 04:18 pmDay 3: Favorite Movie of the Prequel Trilogy
Oh, Jesus, do you have to ask; I love all of them.
Ahem, pardon me for this. But really, I think in terms of nostalgic value, THE PHANTOM MENACE would be up there, if only because...well, honestly, it's just a damn fun movie. And honestly? I don't mind the political scenes too much. True, they can drag a little bit, but they're still very compelling to watch, mostly because of seeing how Padme/Queen Amidala handles herself under pressure, and seeing Palpatine be the manipulative sonuvabitch that I loathe...and yet somehow cannot help but love. (Palpatine's just one of those villains who is so despicable, and yet so fun to watch. Seriously. :) Not to mention just meeting our cast for the first time -- Qui-Gon Jinn, Anakin Skywalker (and little Anakin is just so cute, I swear. :3), Jar-Jar Binks (yes, I'm going to admit, I like him. True, some of his scenes can be a bit -- ahem -- forced, but he's not a terrible character. He's kind of lovable, really, in an odd way. I just wish they could have done more with him), Obi-Wan (and I'll admit, in contrast to how he's portrayed in the novelization --which, yeah, I love the novelization, but Obi-Wan can be a bit of a jerk there -- I was surprised, first time I saw TPM, about how goddamn nice he was. Seriously, Obi-Wan has his flaws, but overall, he's very sweet. :) Sort of like Anakin, in a way. :), Padme (coolest Queen ever, I swear. <3), Shmi (*sniffle*), and a lot of others. Not to mention that I have fond memories of seeing it with my mom at the theater when it was given the 3D rerelease.
But in terms of just being made of awesome, REVENGE OF THE SITH. Seriously. Great moments of humor, and yet at the same time, epicness, personal tragedy, darkness...it has it all, really. And some of the Anakin/Padme scenes are just...d'awww. <3
( Rest of questions. )
