9 - The devil is in the details - which ones are important to you? To your characters? Is it you, the author, or the character narrating that notices certain details throughout the story? Is every detail brought to light important to the plot, or are some presented for another reason? Why?
That's a very good question. In terms of details, I think the details of the setting are pretty important (if only because there are times when I forget to use them. XD Let's say that I'm not exactly very good at describing the setting -- characters and plots and emotion I can do, but not setting. XD XD), and the matter of the characters, especially in regards to, from both an authorial and character perspective, how a character is feeling. A character might notice certain details about another character depending on how the former is feeling (or how the latter is feeling, for that matter, if that makes any sense). Sometimes they might be important to the plot, sometimes they might be related to the matter of the setting or the characters, just for the sake of grounding it in reality, which I think is just as important. Sometimes, the plot isn't really everything. It's important, yes, but the other elements are equally so. Sometimes a bit of grounding in reality can do volumes in terms of, say, helping the reader get into a fantastical premise, or just to bring the story to life. So yes...details are pretty damn important.
( Rest of questions. )
