Title: Disengage, Reengage

Summary: Malak doesn't have to rely on the Force to make Revan obey him. Not when there are other ways.

Prompt: Mind Control

Warnings: Um, mentions of torture. Plus, the story getting away with me. And rusty writing skills.

Disclaimer: I do not own KOTOR.

Author's Notes: Started off as an ordinary "Chain of Command"-esque story before morphing into...I don't know what. Hope it's good at any rate.

From meridian-rose. :) I thought at the very least it would be interesting to learn more about me and my writing style.

1 - What style of narration do you usually write in? Which do you prefer to read? First person singular, first person plural, second person singular (rarely well executed) , third person limited, third person omniscient? Are certain styles superior to others? Why or why not?

In terms of what I usually write in, I write in third person limited, as well as third person omniscient (at least, in terms of head-hopping). I think third-person omniscient definitely works if only because it allows you to get inside the heads of other characters -- showing two sides to every story, so to speak. I guess I should probably stick to stuff like first person singular and everything, but in a way, I think it kind of loses some of its impact, e.g. getting to see what the villains are up to, what a side-character's thinking and feeling and so on and so forth. I think at the very least, head-hopping...as long as you mark it, you're pretty much good to go.

As for what I like to read -- seriously, anything goes as long as you sell me on it. I mean, I loved Matthew Stover's use of second person in the REVENGE OF THE SITH novelization, and I loved Suzanne Collins' first person POV in THE HUNGER GAMES, as well as Phyllis Reynolds Naylor's first person POV in her Alice McKinley books (and I definitely recommend people read them, as they are *brilliant*) and so on and so forth. I think the key to writing a good POV overall is just to be engaging. That really helps, I think.
