It's been a while since I made a ranty post, I guess

I want to get excited about Star Wars: Episode Eight. I really do. But the more news I hear about it (and granted, they're probably not set in stone, and some of them could be rumors, like the old speculations of who would be cast in Episode Seven), the more cynical I'm starting to get.

Stuff like Anakin not being the Chosen One possibly, stuff like Luke singlehandedly taking on the Knights of Ren (just...there is not enough nope in the world to express how much I have a sick feeling about this. *) and Kylo fleeing from Luke (yeah, you know how people made fun of Kylo for Rey defeating him? At least Kylo got to give her and Finn a tough time beforehand) during the duel...I guess I shouldn't get anxious over stuff that really is just in the planning stages, but I just have a really sick feeling.

And to prove I Am Not Making This Up, here there be links:

http://www.latinpost.com/articles/121719/20160616/star-wars-episode-8-rumors-spoilers-news-rey-chosen-one.htm

Maybe I'm wrong here, but I just have a bad feeling about this. Just...I have a feeling that Rian Johnson is going to mess this up royally.

* Seriously, Rey gets called a Mary Sue for the Jedi mind trick thing as well as defeating Ren in combat, but Luke gets a free pass for this because he's "the bestest most powerful Jedi ever"? Just...no. And people don't seem to get in general that an overpowered character does not a likable character make.

I've always felt like Luke was the chosen one.

I kind of had the feeling that they were sort of like co-Chosen Ones, Anakin and Luke. Anakin was the original Chosen One who went off the rails, and Luke was the one who basically made up for it.
