Currently have 35,773 words. Jesus. Anyway, did well, even if for this bit of writing time I wonder if I went too far.

went too far Yes, writing is cathartic and filled with self-discovery, some of which is jarring. At least, I've found it to be so. *gets thoughtful*

What would you say have been the biggest surprises that have turned up while you were writing, out of curiosity?

That's a good question. I'd have to say that I discovered about three years back that I treat writing fics as a job even though I don't get paid! That is to say, I work up an outline and push on till the story is completed. The outline is basically where I want the story to go and the character arcs involving each character's growth throughout the story; the outline gets added onto or filled out more, but not actually changed greatly. Sometimes I think I'm not cut out for 'hobbies' because I treat writing so seriously. Meh. I'm a professional copywriter and maybe it bleeds over into fun timez? I dunno. :/

Another surprise was that torturing characters is lots of fun. Now this is a darker discovery into my character that I'm uncomfortable with but hey, there it is. I do have limits and have read stories, mostly Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan stories over on Master-Apprentice, that tested my limits. I left off reading full-blown sadism stories that were highly recommended and can't recommend any on the archive, even though I try to leave a review for each story read. I'm pleased that even though the quality of writing may be superb, if the premise or details squick me as a reader I'll leave off reading.

Those were the biggest surprises.
