Honestly, no real thoughts because I haven't read it and seldom see things in relation to it. I've heard criticism that they're not really in a safe sort of relationship and that Ana is way too willing to let Grey get away with all sorts of things, but that's about it.

Well, that's definitely good. I haven't read the book necessarily and I could be completely wrong about it, but the few excerpts I read (and the play-by-play analyses) made me go, "Well, this is a whole lot of nope." Especially in terms of, as you mentioned, the unsafe relationship (which, from what I read, is kind of a case of "what not to do" if you're in the BDSM scene). I think das_sporking and a lot of people more expert than me covered most of what's wrong with the book (and its sequels) though.
