Just bear with me; I need this.

At the request of [livejournal.com profile] darth_eldritch...

Let's say that this was kind of an old one back in 2011; basically, a bit of a free-for-all conversation thread, so to speak. Thought I'd bring it back if only for detox purposes.

THE HALL OF FIRE

Just talk about whatever's on your mind. Fandom, real life, anything, really. I'm up for listening. :)

The vidder makes it clear that she thinks people can't simply dislike a character who happens to be female. People need to have a reason. And God forbid that reason is "she's annoying".

Oh, and God forbid if you, say, dislike Cersei Lannister but likes Tyrion Lannister. Since they're both baddies. Oh, doesn't matter that their personalities are completely different! You can't dislike the sister and like the brother.

Grr! I can understand where she's coming from... kind of. But this is getting ridiculous.

I can imagine that would be pretty irritating. (And on a side-note, I'm really sick of when people assume that if you dislike a female character, it means you're a misogynist. I mean, FFS...)

But yeah, some people can go too far in the "Support Hated Character" crusade.

It's infuriating. I mean, I tend to have a similar approach to fictional characters to that I have to real people — except that I can be way more lenient with fictional characters because I can see more than one side of them. But in the end it all comes down to personal feelings.

Appreciating a character because they're written well and because I can try to understand their motivations and all doesn't make me LIKE them... just "like" them.

Oh well...

I was peeking at the thread above and I wasn't exactly sure whether or not to but in, but I just wanted to comment that I love the idea of an AU where Luke and Leia are both raised by Vader. :) Though Emperor!Vader is still a no-no for me.

You can't see Vader as an Emperor, I'm guessing? I understand -- I don't think Anakin was ever really the tyrannical type. And considering his already pre-existing dislike for politics...yeah. I can picture him being co-ruler, though. :)

I wasn't even thinking about the "tyrannical" part, to be honest. I just really don't see, as he turned out, him as head of anything besides an army. He doesn't have it in him to rule anything. Co-rule, yes. Rule, no.

I feel a little bad about this. I love Anakin, I should support everything that puts him higher, right? Well, wrong, IMO. I love Anakin the way he is, and I can't support anything that is not true to his character.

No, I say that's a good thing, actually. :) Don't worry. :)

No, I say that's a good thing, actually.

You really think so? :)

Yes, really! :D
