Sorry if I'm spamming your flist, BTW. Call me bored. :)
"I’ve already stated that I disagree with that assessment, since I don’t find Prince Zuko and Uncle Iroh to be villains."
Well, they're technically antagonists. True, they may not be villains, like say, Zhao or Ozai, but they're still antagonists. Let's break this down a bit:

<pDev Patel wasn't a terrible Zuko, but here's the problem: In the cartoon, it's obvious that everything in the Southern Water Tribe (from Sokka's wolf-tail and facepaint to Katara's hair loopies) is inspired by Inuit culture. The Air Nomads are based off Tibetan monks (look at their <em>clothes</em>, dammit!). And the Fire Nation is East Asian.
Plus, Dev seems more Sokka than Zuko. Seriously, look at him:

Plus, he's played some comedic roles before (<em>Skins</em>, for example). I don't think he'd have any trouble capturing Sokka's character. :)</p> Some of the other points you raise do have some validity, though I think I would need to see the movie again to see how strongly they strike me as stereotyping (as opposed to a ham-fisted attempt at worldbuilding).
Um...

And this is not racist… how? Racism in retaliation for racism is still racism.
It's not racist if the person you're angry at is a racist, you know. And yes, he's Indian...he's still racist. :(
So now the Academy Award is a sign of unimpeachable quality? Jackson’s adaptation of The Lord of the Rings is shoddily made and not even remotely true to the original work.

What the Critic said. :(
"That Shyamalan directed one mediocre movie does not undo his previous works, which are masterfully done, even when they flawed (like Signs or The Happening).
Then you were <i>dropped on your fucking head. </i>
(Sorry, it had to be said.)
